Calcot & Spa is the kind of countryside stay that feels instantly comforting for families. Outside, there’s a giant teepee in the wildflower meadow stocked with toys, an outdoor playground, mud kitchen, enclosed toddler area, and bikes to borrow. The thoughtful details continue in the rooms, with Usborne books, bath toys, tiny robes, gingerbread cookies on the beds, and even a Toniebox with a choice of characters, plus a VCR and stack of classic kids’ DVDs for a nostalgic touch. A daily Kids Tea at 5pm includes a generous snack buffet and made-to-order favourites like pizza and burgers, giving kids their own moment and routine each evening.
While kids are happily occupied, parents get their own space to relax. The Grain Store wellness area includes a beautiful gym, fitness classes, smoothies, and an indoor heated pool, with designated family splash times built into the day. Evenings feel especially manageable thanks to the option to borrow a baby monitor and tablet from reception, allowing parents to enjoy dinner at The Brasserie uninterrupted. Dining here is a highlight, with standout dishes like the cheese soufflé that’s worth ordering more than once.
